Myrtle Mae Budy née Harmer (3rd Nov 1929 – 5th Feb 2006)

Myrtle Mae Budy née Harmer (born 3rd Nov 1929) was the third child of Leon Dudley Harmer (1889 – 1980). Leon was the son of John Harmer Jnr., which means that Myrtle was our John Harmer’s great-granddaughter!

Early life

Marriage

In March 1951, when she was 21, Myrtle married Edward J. Budy at Passaic City [New Jersey Marriage Index, 1901-2016]. Edward was born on 8th November 1929, at Passaic.

Here is a photo of Edward from the Passaic High School Yearbook of 1947:

Edward served in Korea as a Corporal in the U.S. Army between 1952 and 1954.

Strangely, the New Jersey Marriage Index, 1901-2016 hold a record for another marriage between Myrtle and the same Edward in May 1991! This second marriage was at Edison Township, Middlesex, N.J., where they do appear at 39 Woodbury Road from the early 1990s in various telephone directories. It would be interesting to find out whether Myrtle and Edward divorced and got back together again, or if this is a clerical error!

Death

Myrtle passed away on 5th February 2006 when she was 76 years old [U.S. Social Security Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007]. Edward had died two years earlier on 18th March, at Edison, Passaic, when he was 74 [ibid.] The couple are interred at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, N.J.
