Leon Dudley Harmer (1916 – 2005)

Leon Dudley Harmer (born 18th Feb 1916) was the second child of Leon Dudley Harmer (1889 – 1980), who was the fifth child of John Harmer Jnr., – which makes him our John Harmer’s great-grandson!

Early Life

The 1940 U.S. State Census  tells us that Leon, then almost 24, was living at home with his family at 52 Van Houten Avenue, Passaic. He was working a 40 hour week as a drill press operator at an airplane factory, and earning 560 dollars per annum.

Marriage

Leon married Ena Sorge in 1942 at N.J. [New Jersey Marriage Index, 1901-2016].

Military Career

Leon served with the U.S. Navy as a crew member of the U.S.S. Sirius between 1943 and 1945. [U.S. WWII Muster Rolls 1938 – 1949]. His service number was 809 47 55

Death

Leon Dudley Jnr. passed away on 14th May 2005, when he was 89. His last residence was Schroon Lake, Essex, New York [U.S. Social Security Death Index, 1935-2014]. He is buried at Severance Cemetery, Schroon Lake, NY 12870.
