Dorothy M. Newmark née Harmer (born 12th Oct 1904) was the daughter of Joseph Smith Harmer (1882 – 1957), who was the fourth child of John Harmer Jnr. – which makes her our John Harmer’s great grandaughter!
Marriage and divorce
Dorothy married Murray G. Newmark on 12th of June 1931 at Manhattan, New York [New York, New York City Marriage Records, 1829-1940], giving her mother’s maiden name as Susan Scalley. Their marriage was not a happy one, and by 1940 they had divorced.
Life after Murray
In the 1940 N.J. Federal Census 35 year old Dorothy is recorded as boarding with a family at 199 West End Avenue, Newark. Her highest level of education was the fourth year of high school. She was working as an industrial clerk, had been in full time work for at least one year, and was earning $1200 per annum.
Death
Dorothy passed away at Wichita, Sedgwick, Kansas on 6th August 1982 [Social Security Death Index].
